Single-sided vs. double-sided yard signs
One printed face or two — a straight side-by-side from the people who print both.
The short answer
Choose double-sided yard signs for any road with traffic in both directions, because a single-sided sign is blank from behind and half your audience never sees it. Choose single-sided when the sign only ever gets viewed from one direction, such as one mounted against a fence or a wall, where printing the back is wasted. Both are printed on 4 mm coroplast with direct UV-cured ink, both ship with galvanized H-stakes on our standard styles, and both start at a minimum order of 12 with a free mockup within 24 hours.
Side by side
| Single-sided | Double-sided | |
|---|---|---|
| Printed faces | One face printed; the back is bare coroplast | Both faces printed direct with UV-cured ink, usually the same artwork on each |
| Who can read it | Drivers and walkers approaching from the printed side only | Traffic and foot traffic from either direction |
| Best placement | Against a fence, wall or building, or on a road with a single approach | Street-facing signs, medians and any road with traffic in both directions |
| Wind | Presents a face to the wind from one direction only | Presents a full face to the wind whichever way it blows, so it earns a sturdier stake setup |
| Stakes | Galvanized H-stake included on the standard styles | Galvanized H-stake included, one per sign; heavier stakes for clay and gravel |
| Cost drivers | Fewer print passes and a lower cost per sign at the same quantity | Both faces are printed, which adds to the cost per sign compared with single-sided |
| Where we make it standard | Available on corrugated, business and event styles | Standard on real estate and campaign signs, and the dedicated double-sided style |
Where double-sided wins
A yard sign on a through street is seen by drivers coming from both directions, and the printed back is what catches the second group. Double-sided printing puts the same artwork on both faces, which is why buyers most often say it is the upgrade they wish they had taken. It also matters for staking: a two-sided sign presents a full face to the wind whichever way it blows, so it deserves a firm stake setup. Real estate and political campaign signs are double-sided as standard for exactly this reason. See double-sided yard signs.
Where single-sided earns its place
If a sign leans against a building, hangs on a fence or faces a single approach, the back is never seen and a second printed face is money you do not need to spend. Single-sided also suits short-run event and directional signs along one route, where every sign is placed to face the same way. The cost drivers are simple: printing one face is less work than printing two, so single-sided brings the cost per sign down at the same quantity. See corrugated plastic yard signs, available single or double sided.
The verdict
Pick double-sided for street-facing signs, campaigns, real estate and any location where people approach from both directions.
Pick single-sided for fence, wall and single-approach placements where the back is never seen.
